Senior Research Fellow (Health Technology Assessment/Health Economics)
The Centre for Applied Health Economics, within the School of Medicine, based in the flagship building at the Nathan campus, seeks a highly motivated senior researcher to undertake economic evaluations and Health Technology Assessments (HTA) for national policy makers. The Centre is a self-funding unit, and this position provides an opportunity to work with an excellent team of health economists and biostatisticians in a multi-disciplinary setting, to deliver high quality HTA’s and economic advice with significant impact on policy.
This is a fixed term (until June 2020), full time position based at the Nathan campus, with the possibility of a further contract after this period subject to funding.
The key roles for the successful candidate will be to lead the appraisal of industry submissions to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee and assist in the preparation or appraisal of submissions to the Medical Services Advisory Committee for listing on the Medical Benefits Schedule.
Additional duties include undertaking HTA’s, collaborating on research grant applications, and producing high quality research outputs such as reports to government bodies and publications in scientific journals. The Senior Research Fellow will be encouraged to pursue their own programme of research and allowances will be made for this. They will take an active role on tender and grant applications, and provide academic leadership to other researchers from a variety of disciplines.
The successful candidate will have previous experience undertaking evaluations of industry submissions to the PBAC. You will have experience in designing and undertaking decision analytic models and/or evidence-based medicine research. In addition, you will have a track record of successfully applying for competitive grants and/or tenders and a strong understanding of the Australian health system and policy-making environment.
Senior Research Fellow: $111,104 – $128,113 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $129,993 – $149,893 per annum.
